Additionally, automakers sometimes debut new software that can solve problems and fix bugs present in earlier infotainment systems. This software runs on select Mazda infotainment systems and performs many of the actions that your iPhone does. In fact, the system can get turn-by-turn directions, make phone calls, send and receive text messages, play music stored on the iPhone, play podcasts and so much more. A few days ago we got an email from Mazda asking us if we'd take our 2014 Mazda 3 to get a software update for the Mazda Connect infotainment. Mazda Connected Services works through that app in the United States, bringing in the controls of Mobile Start, and adding over-the-air updates to the infotainment system. It offers remote start/stop, lock/unlock, vehicle locator, diagnostics, anti-theft notifications and sending destination addresses to the car.
IDS Software
- All IDS software licenses will expire December 31st of each year purchased. Annual renewals will be available each January 1st. New pricing will be available at the beginning of each quarter (January-March $1000, April-June $850, July-September $700, October-Dec $550).
- Mazda IDS software can only be used with Mazda VCM II. VCM I is no longer supported. Mazda VCM II hardware is purchased separately – see “VCM II” tab.
- IDS software is only for 6th generation vehicles and earlier. MDARS is needed for 7th generation vehicles (see MDARS page for vehicles).
- Mazda IDS and Ford IDS cannot be installed on the same computer. You will need to uninstall one of them to use the other.
